The Different Types of Lube
Personal lubricants are great for a number of reasons – they enhance pleasure and intimacy, they can combat personal dryness, and they can overall make sex more fun. Today we want to chat about the different kinds of lube. After all, here at Penchant we’re firm believers that knowledge is power. When it comes to personal lubricants, knowing the basic categories helps you make the lube choice that is right for you.
Water-Based Lubricants
Water-based lubricants like Penchant Pleasure are generally all-purpose lubes, safe with condoms and most sex toys. They are easy to clean up but they tend to dry out often, which can be distracting in the heat of the moment.
Silicone-Based Lubricants
Silicone lubes have more staying power than water-based lubes, and a little goes a long way. Silicone-based lubricants, including Penchant Premium, are great for water play, as they won’t break down in the pool or shower. You can use them with condoms and some sex toys, but steer clear of using them with silicone sex toys as silicone can break down other silicone products. Silicone lubes can stain some fabrics, so do a test spot before using.
Oil-Based Lubricants
Oil-based lubes, including Vitamin E and Vaseline, are good for hand jobs but are not compatible with latex products and many sex toys as they can break down the latex. Oil-based lubes are often messy and difficult to clean up.
Try a few lubes to find the one that works best for you. If you’ve tried Penchant Premium, we’d love to hear from you!
